Ranger® R8-3DX

The FLIR Ranger® R8-3DX is a lightweight, man-portable 3D radar engineered to detect and track air and ground threats in complex tactical environments. Built with digital beamforming and 2 Hz refresh, it provides real-time situational awareness of micro drones, personnel, and vehicles—across a 45° vertical field and 90° sector azimuth or full 360° when mounted on a pan/tilt unit.

With detection ranges of 1.8 km for micro UAS, 4.5 km for humans, and 7.8 km for vehicles, the R8-3DX delivers high-performance tracking in a compact 10.5 kg package that fits in a soldier’s backpack. It operates at <0.1 m/s minimum detection velocity and accurately tracks up to 512 targets simultaneously—even low-flying or slow-moving threats like hovering drones.

Built-in GPS and compass simplify setup and auto-align the system within a C2 interface, while target classification algorithms reduce false alarms by distinguishing humans, vehicles, UAS, birds, and unknowns. Designed to operate 24/7 in all conditions, the R8-3DX is IP67 and MIL-tested for environmental durability and system integration reliability.

Its compact footprint, low power consumption (145 W), and XML-based command structure make it ideal for mobile force protection, border security, and tactical drone defense operations where agility and precision are critical.

AI Classification and Low False Alarm Rate

Smart algorithms automatically classify targets—including people, drones, and vehicles—while reducing clutter and filtering out birds. The system excels in drone swarm detection or border monitoring where decision confidence is essential.
