The FLIR Elara™ R-290 is a compact, FCC-compliant ground surveillance radar designed to enhance outdoor perimeter protection by detecting and tracking human and vehicle threats in all weather, lighting, and environmental conditions. Built for integration into larger video security ecosystems, the R-290 seamlessly links radar-based tracking with FLIR PTZ, thermal, and visible security cameras for complete situational awareness.

The R-290 provides 90° field of view coverage and detects humans at up to 200 meters and vehicles at up to 400 meters, making it ideal for securing property boundaries, utility substations, data centers, or other critical infrastructure. It scans its environment 10 times per second, providing near-real-time updates and simultaneous tracking of up to 32 dynamic targets.

With radar output including precise GPS coordinates, range, speed, heading, and object ID, the Elara R-290 enables highly accurate cueing of PTZ cameras. Operators can prioritize certain threats on the radar map, override automation, and dynamically direct camera response—all while filtering out environmental noise like light reflections or shadows that cause false alarms in visual-only systems.

The R-290 supports integration with FLIR United VMS and third-party systems via ONVIF S and standard protocols. Lightweight, IP66-rated, and low-power, the radar installs quickly and performs reliably across harsh environments, from subzero winters to desert heat.
